Why You Should Explore Much More than Havana when Heading to Cuba

It’s a story told by visitors to Cuba time and time again that you must visit the capital city of Havana. Seductively charming, fuelled on sizzling salsa rhythms and with a unique party atmosphere that’s different to anywhere else on earth, Havana is definitely a must visit destination when holidaying in Cuba.

But, those who choose to head to this enchanting country and only see the kaleidoscopic colours of Havana are seriously missing out. Here’s where you should head outside of Havana with Cuba Holidays for a for a truly magical Cuban experience:

Incredible Beaches

Head to Cuba’s coastline to swim in some of the world’s clearest waters. Cuba’s gorgeous coastline is perfect for Scuba diving with incredible deserted bays and areas of unspoilt natural beauty. The best beaches include Playa Pilar, where there’s around 4km of beautiful untouched sands to explore until your heart is content. It’s great for snorkelling and diving, with plenty of opportunity to spot fish in the coral reef and, the real bonus point is that you’ll not have to beat hordes of tourists to get the best sun loungers.

The Fire Festival

Visual arts, theatre, live dance performances and a cultural gala all dominate the impressive Fire Festival of Santiago de Cuba which cannot be missed. An incredible celebration of the beautiful arts of Cuba, the festival is held at the beginning of July each year with people from all different areas of the Caribbean heading over the enjoy the celebrations. The Fire Festival is a weeklong street party with a carnival that goes on until the early hours of the morning for those who simply can’t stop dancing.

World Heritage Sites

Not only does Cuba have such great cities, gorgeous beaches and wonderful festivals, it also is home to many world heritage sites that can’t be missed. Cuba’s luscious greenery in the rural areas is particularly impressive. Home to world famous tobacco, sugar and coffee plantations that have been protected as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Cuba’s rural valleys are visually stunning and home to rare birds and wildlife.

Cuba has so much to offer visitors to the unique island with many visitors arriving in Havana and not wanting to leave. With all these amazing things to see and do, and much more to offer, you have to venture outside of Havana to experience all of Cuba’s most amazing offerings.
