Gòtic4 places to visit in Barcelona riding a bike

Do you love visiting new places riding a bike? I’m an avid cyclist and I really enjoy cycling down the streets of unknown cities just to discover the wonders they have.

Obviously, when I’m exploring big cities I take the metro at some point if I want to go to some famous place that it’s on the outskirts. But usually there’s a lot to visit riding your bike.

There are a lot of bike friendly cities in Europe. For instance, I was in Barcelona last summer and I remember there were a lot of bike lanes and specific crossing lights, so moving around the city by bike was very easy.

The first thing I did when arriving was to look for some bike hiring in Barcelona so that I can rent a proper bicycle and start exploring. You can find original services, like donkey.bike, in which you can book a bike whenever you want through a mobile app and even control the rental period.

So, let me introduce you to 4 places to visit in Barcelona riding your bike.

Barcelona Harbour1 – La Barceloneta, the harbour and the promenade

One of the most iconic places in the city, La Barceloneta is a charming neighbourhood with a lot of bars and cafés. Besides, this place is next to the harbour and one of the most famous beaches in the city. If you want, you can ride your bike from the harbour to the end of the promenade and enjoy the sun and the fresh air. Also, you can stop at the beach and go for a quick swim to freshen yourself.

2 – Ciutadella’s Park

Ride your bike in this big park just in the middle of the city. You can stop and rest for a while if you want, laying on the grass and watching the local people walking, playing music or dancing. It’s certainly a very bohemian spot where you would be able to relax.

You can also visit Arc the Triomf, another iconic landmark in the city just next to the Ciutadella Park. You’ll find this beautiful arch is in the middle of a big avenue full of life, shops and restaurants.

Parc Güell3 – Gràcia & Parc Güell

I highly recommend to explore Barcelona beyond the city centre. For instance, you can take a ride from Plaça Catalunya to Parc Güell. You will start riding your bike in Passeig de Gràcia, a street where you can find two famous buildings: Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. Both buildings were design by Gaudí, the most important architect in Catalunya.

Then, you can keep riding through the Gràcia neighbourhood until you reach Parc Güell, the garden-city built also by Gaudí. If you are passionate about art and architecture, you will adore this park.

4 – Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas is the popular name for the most famous street in Barcelona and it’s the heart of the city. This large street is the bound between two of the most charming neighbourhoods in the city: El Raval and El Gòtic. Full of small streets, beautiful squares and a lot of nostalgia, you can’t leave Barcelona without visiting these two neighbourhoods.

What’s more, if you walk down the Rambla you must pay attention to the human statues, a very famous type of street performance. I assure you that you’ll be amazed by their performance. I’ve never seen nothing like it before.
