When thinking of great American cities to live in, Charlotte usually doesn’t top the list. The North Carolina metropolis is typically overshadowed by the glamour of larger cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago. Some people might ask “How could a city in North Carolina compete with such iconic cities?”
Despite this, The Queen City is still ranked as one of the top cities to live in when it comes to U.S cities. Charlotte offers many great features, without many of the liabilities that are typically associated with living in a big city. What makes Charlotte so great, and is it really worth moving there?

Entertainment And Culture
Despite Charlotte’s smaller size, its entertainment and culture can rival what any city has to offer. Charlotte is home to two major North American sports teams: the Hornets of the NBA and the Panthers of the NFL. Both of these teams have rabid fan bases and offer a great entertainment experience for all of their home games.
The city is also home to several motorsport racing tracks, and has a deep history with the sport. Every year thousands NASCAR fans flock to Charlotte Motor Speedway. In addition, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is located in Charlotte, bringing even more NASCAR fans throughout the year.
Outside of sports, Charlotte has plenty to offer. Charlotte is home to some amazing museums such as the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Charlotte is a melting pot of southern history and modern innovation, so regardless of what your style is there is something for you to do in Charlotte!
Economy
One of Charlotte’s biggest assets is its booming economy. Multiple Fortune 500 companies call the city home, ensuring that there is no shortage of jobs for the city’s residents. This includes the nation’s second largest financial institution, Bank of America, and the nation’s second largest home improvement store, Lowe’s.
As mentioned before, the city is also home to multiple racetracks, and is also a powerhouse in the motorsports industry. Charlotte’s motorsport industry rivals that of Detroit and Indianapolis, as it is home to almost 75% of NASCAR’S teams and employees. The city’s significance to the motorsport industry is only one contributor to the city’s strong tourism numbers, further strengthening the local economy. Finally, Charlotte lacks the large cost of living that is typically associated with larger cities. This means that purchasing Charlotte, NC real estate will be much more affordable than buying a home in San Francisco.
Climate
Charlotte’s climate offers its residents the best of both worlds. Winter temperatures almost never fall to the freezing levels that they do in the northern parts of the United States, while summers are not as scorching hot as the southern parts of the U.S. The mild winters and warm summers are perfect for those that like lukewarm temperatures. The annual average high temperature in Charlotte is over 70 degrees, while the average low temperature is almost 50 degrees.
In addition, Charlotte typically avoids large amounts of snowfall and excessive amounts of rain, allowing you to get outside and enjoy the great climate even more. If you’re looking to avoid extreme heat or cold, then Charlotte has the perfect climate for you.
