Weather forecast

Check the weather just before your trip so that you know what to pack. It often changes on a daily, even hourly, basis and certainly differs by the month. Here is an approximate guide on temperature highs and lows in Fahrenheit.

January: 46 – 57

February: 48 – 60

March: 49 – 61

April: 50 – 63

May: 51 – 64

June: 53 – 66

July: 54 – 66

August: 55 – 67

September: 56 – 70

October: 55 – 69

November: 51 – 64

December: 47 – 57

It can be pretty windy all year round in the hills, so take a jacket and scarf to carry around. At the bottom it tends to stay pretty warm! Generally speaking it is pleasant weather throughout all of the seasons, so you can take advantage of the attractions, sights and al fresco eating all year round.

Things to do

The Golden Gate Bridge that you saw as you came into the city — take a walk along it. This bridge is on many a bucket list! There is also the Golden Gate park, which boasts over 1000 acres of picnic spots and museums. To get a taste of the local life and atmosphere, take a stroll through Mission District and Castro. Take a vintage cable car for a postcard perfect moment then head to the Union Square neighbourhood for a bite to eat.

You can also get back to nature at the Muir Woods National Monument and Fisherman’s Wharf. If the rain does fall, take cover in The Exploratorium! Another favorite for adventurous tourists are the 992 feet high Twin Peaks — not for the faint hearted. You can also take a trip out to Alcatraz Island where a famous but now defunct prison stands.
