Top 10 photo ops in Niagara Falls

I love to flex my creative muscles and practice photography on my travels, and Niagara Falls is one of the best places in the world for amateurs like me. Here are a list of the best beauty spots and natural phenomenon that you can capture all year round at Niagara…

1. Your bedroom window

The Canadian side of the Falls is ideal for explorers with far more to see and do here – and that adventure starts at the foot of your bed! When you stay in a Niagara Falls hotel, you’ll get a view of the Horseshoe Falls from your window, so you can spend hours getting that perfect angle.

2. Hornblower Cruise

If you want to capture each of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara, the Hornblower Cruise is the best way to do it. You’ll get that unique perspective for each of them – just make sure you hold an umbrella over the lens.

3. Devil’s Hole State Park

There are so many awe-inspiring landscapes to find around Niagara, and Devil’s Hole is one of them. Perfectly preserving the rugged, natural beauty that’s been here for thousands of years, this is the perfect hike for nature photographers.

4. Dufferin Islands Park

While Devil’s Hole is home to strong natural features, there’s an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity around the Dufferin Islands. If you’d like to capture those moments of meditation around this small cluster of islands that make up an Ontario oasis, here’s your chance.

5. Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory

For animal lovers, the Butterfly Conservatory is your chance to capture thousands of unique, colourful patterns dancing on the air around their own tailored habitat. Not only will you have the chance to photograph these stunning specimens, but plenty of exotic plants too.

6. Niagara Skywheel

If you prefer to take your photographs at altitude, the Niagara Skywheel is not only a fantastic ride, but it will give you a stunning cityscape photo.

7. Skylon Tower

When you journey to Skylon’s observation deck, you’ll get a breath-taking, panoramic view of Niagara as well as the perfect opportunity for a spot of food photography, in their world-class, revolving restaurant.

8. Niagara Helicopters

If this still isn’t high enough for you, you’ll be able to take plenty of birds-eye view shots from the seat of a helicopter. There are tonnes of helicopter tours here every week, so you’ll get an informative tour guide as well as unparalleled images.

9. Get to the point

If you want to get back on the ground and explore more of the surrounding area, there are plenty of peaks for you to take pictures. Two of the best are Thompson’s Point and Terrapin Point.

10. Whirlpool Aerocar

If you want an aerial shot of the magnificent whirlpool and the surrounding ferocious rapids, the vintage Aerocar is the way to go about it. You’ll be suspended directly above Niagara River for a once-in-a-lifetime shot.
