Romantic Italy – Top 5 Cities to Visit on a Honeymoon

Ah, Italy… Perhaps the most romantic place on Earth. This country has become a cradle for visual arts and literature and has given birth to numerous romantic stories. It’s no surprise that Shakespeare decided to locate his most tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet, in Verona – one of Italy’s most beautiful cities.

Nonetheless, you may find several magnificent cities all across the country. Today we are going to talk about some of our choices. Here are five Italian cities totally worth visiting on a honeymoon.

1. Verona

Since we have already mentioned this magnificent city, let’s begin with it. Couples and singles from all over the world get to this city just to tuck little love notes into the brick wall of Juliet’s house (Juliet is obviously a fictional character, so it’s just the wall under the balcony that faces the courtyard and resembles the one described in the play). Likewise, you should visit other romantic places as Piazza delle Erbe (Market’s square), Giardino Giusti (Renaissance gardens), and other narrow and warm streets.

2. Rome

We couldn’t make this list up without the capital city of Italy, magnifying and ancient Rome. Not only its unique history but also amazing heritage and beautiful architecture attract millions of tourists every year.

This city has plenty to offer to lovers. For instance, the Gianicolo hill provides its visitors with a breathtaking view of the city. Don’t forget about the Orange Garden and the Priory of the Knights of Malta – the latter gives an unbelievable vision of St Peter’s Basilica.

3. Florence

The main attraction of this city is not a unique historical legacy or magnifying buildings but the atmosphere itself. Narrow streets literally embrace old houses, creating a cozy feeling of solitude in a rather big city.

If you are an art-lover, you will for sure be amazed by the collection of Renaissance masterpieces in the Uffizi Gallery. Since we are talking about romantic spots, Santa Maria del Fiore with its staircase to the observation tower with the best view of the entire Florence will be quite exciting for a couple.

4. Milan

Fashion might be not the most romantic industry in the world – but it is without doubts beautiful, and beauty always comes along with romance and attraction. Milan is repeatedly titled the fashion capital of Europe and the entire world – and for a good reason. You will find rows of designer stores in historical buildings with unique architectural ensamples.

Interestingly, this eclectic mix looks natural in Milan. As well, don’t forget about La Scala Opera House. It’s a must-have in a real traveler’s list of highlights.

5. Venice

We know you have been eagerly waiting for this one. The City of Canals, Venice, is by far the most romantic spot in the entire Italy – and it’s not an exaggeration. Gondola rides, artists, carnivals, ubiquitous music… and counting.

This city is just created for lovers with its quiet streets and warm streetlights reflected on the water surface. You won’t hear any cars because they are just not common here. But the most beautiful part is nights in Venice. You will never forget this real city of love.
