PHOTO GALLERY: Guatemala Highlights
(see photos of Guatemala here)
Guatemala is a surprisingly diverse country, with topographies ranging from black sand beaches on its Pacific coast to 30+ volcanic peaks in the central/western highlands to several beautiful lakes, equally beautiful rivers, a tropical Caribbean coast and dense jungles.
Cultural diversity includes majestic Mayan ruins, traditional Mayan villages and UNESCO World Heritage City, Antigua, built by the Spanish over period of three centuries, from 1500-1700s.
I explored Guatemala extensively in November and December, 2015, photographing its varying landscapes, architecture and cultural highlights.
In this photo gallery I present 40 of my best photos of Guatemala, showcasing its quite astounding diversity.
I hope they will inspire to explore Guatemala yourself one day. Besides the country’s great beauty, it’s also one of Central America’s least expensive countries, making it affordable for everyone, even shoestring budget travelers.
If you enjoy the beauty of nature, outdoor adventures, intriguing traditional cultures or history you’ll find much to appreciate and enjoy in Guatemala.
