Even though it may still be winter in Canada, FlightHub is already gearing up to make summer 2016 the most incredible one yet. With the dollar down, take advantage of exploring the Great White North in its prime! FlightHub Review has compiled a list of the best Canadian music festivals you absolutely can’t miss out on.

NXNE, June 15-19

Kicking off festival season in Canada is the NorthxNorthEast annual music festival. Hosted in Toronto, the festival includes live music, comedy performance, art exhibitions and performances, and so much more. Mirroring its sister festival, SXSW in Austin, Texas, this three-day festival takes place in the heart of Toronto’s urban cityscape, Dundas Square.

Do you need to camp: No

When do tickets go on-sale?: TBD, their website is pretty insistent it’s soon though!

Escapade, June 27-28

Relatively new to the Canadian festival scene, Escapade’s humble beginnings started with a Deadmau5 concert with only a few hundred attendees to this massive two-day electronic music festival with over 30,000 people in attendance. Located in Ottawa, the festival has since expanded to include single-day shows and performance up until Canada day. Celebrate our country’s independence at this crazy electronic music festival!

Winnipeg Folk Festival, July 7-10

As one of the oldest Canadian music festivals, it’s no wonder that WFF calls the city of Winnipeg home. The five-day festival began as a centennial celebration for the city and has since grown to host over 80,000 people over the course of the week. From bluegrass, to French Canadian folk, there’s something for everyone’s musical taste at WFF.

Do you need to camp: Yes, this is an option available to festival goers.

Ottawa Blues Festival, July 7-17

Don’t be fooled by the name, the Ottawa Bluesfest is one of the most impressive festivals to come out of the Canadian music scene. As a registered charity for over 15 years, the festival draws over 300,000 attendees each year and has hosted notable musical acts, including Kanye West.

Do you need to camp: No, hotels are available throughout Ottawa.

When do tickets go on-sale? : Tickets are not yet available for purchase, but can purchased throughout the festival dates!

WayHome Music Festival, July 22-26

Labelling itself as you’re not-so-typical music festival, this four-day event takes place just outside of Toronto and combines all the best of the modern music scene in one convenient location. Set in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, the festival has hosted musicians such as Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar and Alt-J, who headlined the festival last year. With expected attendance to be over 45,000 people, this festival is one you won’t want to miss.

Do you need to camp?: Yes, make sure you get to the campsite in advance to grab a good spot!

Osheaga, July 29-31

Probably the biggest festival to come out of the Canadian music scene, Osheaga is entering its 11th year with higher expectations than ever before. This multi-day music and arts festival was ranked #1 in Canada and 11th Globally, drawing more than 75% of its ticket sales from outside of its home province of Quebec. Taking place in Parc Jean Drapeau, it’s conveniently located within the city limits of Montreal, yet isolated enough to give the entire island of St. Helene a more intimate feel. Acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Florence and the Machine, and the Black Keys have headlined the festival in the past.

Do you need to camp?: No! Access to the festival is easy through public transit

When do tickets go on-sale? : In early April-May

Boots and Hearts, August 4-7

As the largest country music festival in Canada, you can’t get more Canadian than this. This three day festival is held every year in Oro-Medonte, Ontario and lasts three days while festival goers sing along to the best of Country Music. In the past, the festival has headlined acts like Luke Bryan, Toby Keith and Miranda Lambert among many others.

Do you need to camp?: You could if you so choose, or you can you can stay in one of the many hotel options provided for you.

When do tickets go on-sale?: Full event tickets are still available for purchase!
