Where are you celebrating New Year’s Eve this year?

Do you usually go for the all-night wild party, drinking and dancing style New Year’s Eve? Or do you prefer a house party, a quiet evening at home with your family, a new daring adventure?

This year I’ll be celebrating – somehow – on a tropical beach in the Andaman Islands. At the time of writing (Dec. 11 in Port Blair, Andamans) I don’t know what I’ll be doing or even which island I’ll be on come December 31st. I’m just off-grid, wandering around and island hopping for three weeks…

scuba diving in Thailand

Come New Year’s Eve, perhaps I’ll be dancing on a white-sand beach under a sky full of stars. If I’m lucky I might have a cocktail or two. But maybe I’ll be enjoying some quiet reflective musings on the year 2013. Who knows?

I do hope to go scuba diving on the Andaman’s pristine coral reefs to kick start 2014. So, hopefully on January 1st or 2nd I’ll be jumping off a dive boat into a clear blue sea then descending onto a vibrant reef full of colorful and exotic reef fish. Let’s see what’s in store for me this time around…

Then the first week of January, 2014 will mark my final days (and off-grid vacation) in the Andamans. On January 6th I fly back to mainland India and then on to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Good times!
