I’ll Be Off-grid on Vacation in the Andaman Islands until Early January

I was not planning to take a vacation for one month!

I was planning that while traveling around India’s remote Andaman Islands, I would keep you updated on my exciting island hopping adventures. I was planning to publish many gorgeous island photos and gush about the Andaman’s gorgeous beaches & palm trees, coral reefs and island life.

But my plans have gone afoul!

Once I landed here in Port Blair, I discovered that on most of the Andaman islands internet is basically non-functioning! In fact, even in Port Blair the internet connection can be described as very lousy, most certainly unreliable. I’ll be lucky to finish up critical work functions before heading out to the other islands.

So, looks like I’ll be off-grid for the next three weeks!

Hahahaaa… here comes my ‘forced’ vacation!

I’m sure I can happily enjoy myself, work-less, while island hopping from one white-sand beach island to the next. If you know what I mean? :)

Here’s what I hope to be doing while I’m off-grid until early January:

* Take a helicopter to Little Andaman Island

* Ride a local bus, with armed escort, through the interior jungles for 7 hours to a remote town, where I can hop a ferry to one of the most remote islands that visitors are allowed access: Little Andaman Island

* Lounge on pristine white-sand beaches: suntan, read books, stroll the beaches, hunt for shells, swim in the warm sea

* Hike through jungles to cool waterfalls

* Go snorkeling on shallow reefs

* Go scuba diving on Christmas day and during the first week of 2014

* Take heaps of photos of tropical island life

* Gather many great stories and travel tips to share with you once I return to ‘civilization’.

So, this is it. I am officially off-grid and on vacation until January 6th, when I fly back to mainland India then on to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Around about January 8th I’ll start reporting live, as usual, from Malaysia. Look for my Andman stories, travel tips and photos then.

Meanwhile, have a great Christmas and New Year’s Eve, wherever you are in the world!
