PHOTO GALLERY: FLORIDA WATER BIRDS

Florida is flush with water: the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, the Intercoastal Waterway, The Everglades swamps, and a plethora of bays, lakes and rivers.

All this sea and fresh water attracts a diverse variety of water birds. Birds, birds, and more birds help make Florida especially charming.

They include several species of herons, egrets, kingfishers, seagulls, ducks and geese. There are storks, pelicans, cormorants, terns and many, many other wonderful feathered friends.

Both residents and migratory birds are found regularly in Florida’s various waterways, making bird watching interesting and ever-changing throughout the year.

Whenever I visit my mom and brother in St Petersburg, I spend a lot of time watching the amazing bird life found at St. Pete’s small lake, beaches, marinas and along the Intercoastal Waterway.

Birds always give me a good chuckle with their comical activities, poses and gestures. I’m sure to have a great laugh anytime I go out bird watching in the area. I also enjoy photograph-ing birds, especially when I catch them in strange stances or locations.

If you like birds too, check out this collection of elegant, comical, and serene birds from the St. Pete area.
