PHOTO GALLERY: Yuyuan Garden and Temple Area- Shanghai
Shanghai, China is an ultra-modern city, full of skyscrapers, unique modern architecture, huge apartment blocks, and a variety of neighborhoods. There’s a lot of history is this city, too, and some of it remains visible in older districts like Puxi promenade with its colonial British granite buildings, the French quarter with its French style houses, and a few pockets of old Chinese neighborhoods.
One of Shanghai’s most famous neighborhoods, visited daily by hordes of tourists, is Yuyuan Garden and Temple Area. Several city blocks are filled with gorgeous traditional Chinese architecture.
Upturned roofs, elaborately carved wood detailing, unusual red-brown wood, and other architectural detailing make these buildings quite distinct. Yuyuan is filled with temples, shops, tea houses, restaurants, and the famous Yuyuan Gardens.
I’ve recently re-edited my Yuyuan photos and recompiled them in to a much more attractive gallery. Please enjoy admiring these gorgeous buildings.
