Once known as the ‘Great Athens of China,’ Shanghai became a huge international hub of trade, finance, and gangster activities in the 1930s. Today Shanghai is still China’s most international city, packed with an amazing array of eye-popping futuristic architecture, the likes of which are seen nowhere in the western world! I lived there for 4 months and pedaled around the city snapping shots of these awe-inspiring towers, museums, apartment buildings and other structures. The designs, creativity, and engineering feats demonstrated in modern Shanghai architecture is truly spectacular.
