PHOTO GALLERY: VOLCANO HIKING IN JAVA, INDONESIA
My first trip to Indonesia was to Java. I took my bike with me from Bangkok. Starting in Jakarta, I explored the city by bicycle, pedaled to Bogor city then up into the nearby mountains. From there I began hiking many of Java’s mountains and volcanoes. One of the highlights of my trip was making a solo hike and ascent of Java’s highest peak, Mt Semeru (pictured above) then continuing on to Mt Bromo. Check out these shots of my hike- spewing volcanoes, meeting up with locals, and the interesting topography and vegetation of volcanic craters. Volcano hiking was quite unique!
