PHOTO GALLERY: RURAL LIFE IN AMED BALI
This week, in conjunction with the submission of my guidebook Hiking in Bali for publication, I’m presenting a photo gallery full of scenes from daily life in remote Amed, Bali , the setting of the 20 hikes.
View photos of mackerel fishing, colorful Balinese sailing boats, salt-making, volcanic Mt. Agung, rice fields, farm animals and local people going about their daily lives in coastal, mountainous Amed.
Many westerners imagine Bali as simply an over-developed tourist trap, packed with surfers, party-goers, and holiday-makers lounging at 5-star hotels. While that scene does exist in south Bali, most of Bali is filled with traditional Balinese Hindu life, as these scenes will attest to.
Perhaps you’ll be inspired to go visit magical Bali, ‘Island of Gods’…
cheers, Lash
