Although there was a time when people hunted without a GPS and did not need a radio, things change. If you are not using a GPS with mapping, you are missing out on an incredible tool that would be able to help you to understand your hunting grounds better, and it can keep you from getting lost. With a GPS radio combo, you can also speak to your fellow hunters, as well as keep track of them on the map.

Utility Pack

Having a good quality and multi-pocketed backpack is essential on any day in day out pack. A good sign of a great pack is one that can quickly customize to your body with no hassle. Every bag has a different purpose depending on the activity of the day, some of them are sturdier than others to carry heavy loads, others are more about comfort for a long day trying to stay light.

Flagging Tape

An item which is essential to include in your hunting day pack is a flagging tape, which is also essential to know when and how to use it. The primary use of a flagging tape is to help you navigate through the woods and stay on a specific bearing, more especially if you are hunting alone, and tracking a blood trail.

You will pick the first tree you have to go around based on your direction of travel and ensure that it is visible from a distance. Then again, you will pick another tree that is directly along your root, and flag that one as well.

Camo Duct Tape

Another essential tool is camo duct tape as it fixes almost everything. It has been used to conceal a metallic shine many times, other times it prevents metal parts from clashing together. Many people have used it many times to repair a hole in camouflage rubber hunting boots. It can even be used to camouflage up your shotgun barrel for turkey hunting. The list of uses for this essential tool is long and keeps growing.
