Christmas presents under treeNEWS FLASH: I will be on vacation for 2 weeks over Christmas & NYE!

Yes folks, I’m taking my annual year-end vacation from travel writing.

I will be on vacation from this Saturday, December 21st until Monday, January 6, 2020.

This year I have lots of exciting action lined up for my long-awaited break!

The week of Christmas I’ll be enjoying snowy mountains and skiing! Eek!

…in beautiful Bansko, Bulgaria.

I haven’t had a White Christmas for 18 years! Wooie!

And I haven’t been skiing since I was in high school! Yeah…a couple decades ago.

As I wrote a few years ago in my post Dreaming of Skiing Again, I’ve been thinking about trying to hit the slopes again one year when I finally get to Europe…

…and that is NOW!

So I’m very excited…

I discovered Bansko, Bulgaria back in August when I went there on a hotel assignment. I immediately fell in love with the adorable historic town turned ski resort and vowed to return.

I also did a thorough review of the amazing Kempinski ski resort hotel there. So I already know all about it’s gorgeous spa facilities, huge wood lobby with stone fireplace and floor to ceiling windows affording views over the ski lift, slopes and mountain peaks.

So in addition to skiing…

I’ll be hanging out at the stunning Kempinski Resort, enjoying a full-day spa session, a Christmas breakfast buffet, fireplaces, gourmet meals & walks in the snow.

Immediately after my ski vacation…

I’m flying to the small Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus!

I’ll ring in the New Year there…

…then explore Cyprus the whole month of January.

I didn’t know much about Cyprus until I started researching for my trip.

As a brief intro-

The island is lined by dozens of sandy beaches and dramatic rocky shorelines, all set on brilliant turquoise seas. (which should look somethings like this…)

The island is also dotted with many ancient ruins & architecture from the Greek and Roman Empires.

There’s plenty to keep me busy for one month. In fact, I probably will miss some things with the time I have.

In January, I should be enjoying bright sunny days with temperatures in the mid-high 60F / 51-18C. I’m hoping it will get hot enough for me to do some suntanning on the beaches, at least a few days.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I’ll be writing all about Cyprus for you in January…so stay tuned!

Have an awesome Christmas and New Year’s Eve all!

Catch up with you in 2020!

Signing off for 2019

cheers, Lash
