NEWS:
I’ve Joined Matador U Travel Media School!
I’m thrilled to announce that I have become a student of Matador U Travel Media School! I’ll be taking courses in travel writing and travel photography.
I’ve been wanting to join Matador U ever since I began travel blogging in 2011. Every year I say, “Ok, this year I should join and get started on the courses.” And then my ongoing travels, my daily blogging tasks and other ventures fill up my time. And before I know it, another year of world travel & blogging has raced by without me formally studying travel writing or photography.
So this year I finally put my foot down and joined up… Actually, truth be told, I was given a huge push by Matador U back in early December, 2014. They announced their course redesigns and big jump in pricing.
But they were kind enough to offer everyone the chance to join up for a limited time at their old, long-standing prices. That was the jolt I needed to sign up and fork over my hard-earned dollars towards my ongoing education.
To fill you in on another little secret, I owe my family a HUGE thanks for my enrollment at Matador U. I asked for the courses as my Christmas present. My generous dad, brother, sister-in-law, mom and her husband all pitched in to make my travel writing and photography courses a reality for me this year. Thank you, thank you.
I’m so very excited and curious to see what I’m going to learn, how I’m going to improve my writing and photo skills. I can hardly wait to get started… But wait a while I must. I need the time and place to sit down tight, stop traveling for a couple months, and focus on the courses. Looks like that time will be May and June in Florida, USA.
Meanwhile, the coursework and learning are not the only aspects of Matador U that I’m excited about. Students and alumni of Matador U also gain exciting and important connections to travel editors, publications and work opportunities. Matador U has an ongoing jobs board full of magazines, companies, PR agencies and other travel-related ventures looking to hire travel writers and photographers for press trips, featured articles and assignments.
I’m hoping that my newly honed writing & photo skills and exposure to new opportunities will take my career to new levels.
Of course my newly improved writing and photography skills will also improve my travel tips, stories and photo galleries at LashWorldTour. And that means I’ll be better equipped to inspire you to travel the world follow your dreams. Everyone wins!
Stay tuned later this year to hear more about my Matador courses and new travel work assignments.
