TEMPLE CEREMONY IN CULIK, BALI 2010.
At Culik, a village in Bali’s remote northeast coast, I was lucky in 2010 to participate in a temple ceremony held only once in 30 years- once a generation. Thousands of locals dressed in white ceremonial clothing gathered at Culik’s main temple then marched along the rural road 3 km to the Bali Sea, where they completed the ceremonial rites. Many carried temple floats or handmade offerings of fruit, rice and incense. Gamelan troupes accompanied, playing lively tinkly percussion music. It was a spectacular event. Lash

LASH’S AUDITION FOR ‘BEST JOB IN THE WORLD’
In 2009 Australia ran a high-profile international job offer for a ‘Caretaker of the Great Barrier Reef,’ dubbed ‘The Best Job in the World’ and paying $AUS 150,000 for the 6-month stint. In Krabi, Thailand I hired a professional video-grapher to make my audition. It was a blast to make, but did NOT win me the coveted job. All my acquaintances thought I was a dead-ringer for the position but, alas, the Australian Parks’ Service had another competitor in mind!
