Make sure you plan your visit though as lines can be very long.

You can notice four columns standing in front of the National Palace. Their name is prosaic – The Four Columns and were built in 1919 as one of the symbols of Catalanism but destroyed later in 1928 when no Catalanist symbols were wanted any more. These four columns were built again in 1999. It is also really close to the cities magic fountains which are also a must see on this list!

4. The Gothic District

What’s quite amusing is that the narrow, winding streets create quite a labyrinth what means that it may take a while to get your bearings! I recommend that you should always look up and around you or you may miss some of the best bits.

The Gothic quarter has many peaceful squares where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. However one of the main attractions, right in the heart of the district is the huge Cathedral which has a stunning courtyard full of plants and oddly, geese!

5. Palau Nacional

If you are a fan of Catalan Art, then this is definitely a place for you to visit as it is home to National Art Museum of Catalonia. Prepare for the breath-taking pieces you will see in this famous museum. It is the main landmark of the Montjuïc hill is the Palau Nacional. It has an amazing view of Barcelona that you could simply sit and enjoy the view for hours sipping a freshly made coffee at the top. The Palace itself is large and tours are available if you wish however a quick look around inside is usually sufficient without paying the entry if you wanted to cheap out on it and save the money for the museum.

That is only a few recommendations of what to visit when in the beautiful city of Barcelona. It also has some amazing restaurant for you to enjoy when visiting, and be sure to check out sites such as Expedia when looking for Hotels in Barcelona to stay in.
