PHOTO GALLERY- NUDIBRANCHES: CORAL REEF’S LITTLE ‘CANDIES’
Bizarre, gaudy, psychedelic-colored, wildly-patterned. Circles, stripes, dots, bumps, antenna, frilly gills. What am I talking about? Nudibranches, literally ‘naked gills’. These delicate, tiny creatures live on tropical coral reefs, adding their own splash of color and other-worldiness to an already rich and vibrant Eco-system. Essentially snails without shells, nudibranches are enthusiastically adored by serious amateur and professional divers, who thrill to finding them during any underwater ventures. Nudis have already been extensively photographed. Many colorful books have been compiled in their honor. New species are still being found around the world. Check out this sampling of these fabulous marine creatures. SEE FULL GALLERY
